Launch

While the official launch date of the Send A Smile 4 Kids blog isn't until January 1, I see I've had a few visits to the blog already so we're going to go ahead and get it rolling a few days early.

Send A Smile 4 Kids was created as a way to get handmade greeting cards to children in hospitals across the country. Cards will be distributed for Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Birthday cards will be distributed throughout the year.

All cards should be handmade for kids ages 0-19 and should be fun, happy, upbeat cards. Beginning with Easter 2011 we will also be sending small treat bags to be given out to some of the kids as well.

If you wish to donate some handmade cards, please e-mail me at sendasmile4kids@rocketmail.com and I will give you the address to send them to. We will be getting a P.O. Box in January, once we do that address will be listed on the sidebar at all times. The first holiday we will be sending cards for will be Valentine's Day. Valentine's should be received by February 1, 2011. I do realize that's not a lot of time, so I'll go ahead and give you the dates for Easter cards as well. Easter cards should be received by April 10,  2011. All of the dates will be posted in the sidebar as well. Birthday cards can be sent anytime. And if you are like me and have tons of leftover Christmas supplies, you can send Christmas cards as well, we'll just hold onto to them until next year. PLEASE read the card guidelines before making your cards.

And if you aren't the creative type, you can help by giving a monetary donation (click the donate button to the right) or you can send in items for the treat packs (stickers, pencils, crayons, coloring books, etc.)

Every card received will get you an entry in a drawing for the next holiday prize giveaway. The first giveaway will be February 2, 2011. Also, everyone who sends in a Valentine card will be sent an Easter digi stamp set to get you started on your Easter cards.

Thank you so much for your support!!

  5. I'm here from Feline Playful and know that this is a great idea. I spent half of last year in the hospital every weekend with a younger cousin with cancer. She was lucky enough to have been sent to the children's hospital. (She was 20 when diagnosed.) People were always dropping off cards and goodies, and I was able to see how these items helped the kids and their families... I hope this is a success!
