Hello and happy fall!
I recently received an email from a hospital contact, thanking me for sending cards to the patients. She mentioned how happy the cards made the recipients—a little unexpected gift on an otherwise average day in the hospital. The patients were smiling and showing their cards to one other, admiring all the different styles and images on them. This is the reason we do what we do!
Having recently spent a couple of days as a patient, I was struck by how many people were there to help me. I met more than 30 people who were responsible for some part of my care. I can only imagine how overwhelming that must be for a child. I learned that any little kindness from home or the hospital staff made my dat a little easier. I am now more determined to continue sending cards and to expand our efforts to reach more children.
So, if you work for a hospital or know of a children's hospital or pediatric department who might benefit from receiving our cards, please email me their contact information. (sas4kidsjen at gmail.com) Perhaps it's a hospital near you, or one who helped you as a child. We would love to spread cheer to as many patients as we can using the amazing hand-made cards we receive.

We’re growing again!
I am happy to announce we have added a new hospital to our SAS4Kids Family. A wonderful Child Life Specialist who had worked with us in a different hospital contacted us for her new employer. The first box of cards is going to Lowell General Hospital in MA on Monday. I am excited to share the talents of our wonderful cardmakers with a new group of kids, families, and caregivers.
Our June challenge will go live on the first Saturday of the month, June 4. Join the fun by submitting your kid-friendly card. The theme is Cards for Teens/Tweens. Specifications and all the important deets are in the Challenge Rules tab and non-bloggers can upload cards as well!

Happy Valentine’s Day + partial 2021 recap
Did 2021 seem to go by in a blur to you? It sure seemed that way to me. Thanks to generous cardmaking friends, I received more than 3,000 donated cards this year, and shipped 3,300+ cards to hospitalized children. That’s a new record number for me! I have opened envelopes and boxes from more than fifty donors from across the US and Canada, from regulars as well as one-time contributors. The packages contained one or two cards to more than 200. All our volunteer shippers have enjoyed spreading the smiles across the country. It’s really quite amazing, and every card sent is very much appreciated!
